Motor point testing
a tool to assess nerves
By using a point electrode and electrical nerve impulses, the aim of the motor point test is to detect whether there is damage to the first or second motor neuron in the nerve pathway between the motor cortex and the target muscle.
The results of the "motor point test" can have an influence on the surgical decision for a possible nerve transfer as well as on options for post-treatment after a surgical intervention or general treatment of muscles using functional electrostimulation.
